Double Monarchy Austria–Hungary
2 silver coins with the portrait of Franz Joseph I.
Order No.: 35738Description:
This extraordinary collection includes two real silver coins from the Austria–Hungary double monarchy. Each region had its own coins minted. The silver coin from Austria shows the portrait of Emperor Franz Joseph I on the front face, the husband of the famous Empress Sisi. On the reverse side you can see the indication of value, and the Austrian imperial crown, the so called Rudolphine Crown. They were issued in the Austrian part of the double monarchy. Emperor Franz Josef is shown on the Hungarian coin with a laurel crown, and the transcription is shown in Hungarian. The reverse side of the coin shows the Holy Crown of Hungary instead of the Rudolphine Crown.
